Acrylic & Cement Render

Acrylic render, as the name suggests, is a render that uses acrylic (which is a type of plastic) in the mix. The acrylic means that the render itself is more flexible and more resistant to cracking. Acrylic render looks fantastic, can be painted in different colours, and is very fast drying. Another advantage is that you can get different finishes, from smooth to varying textured finishes. The advantage of acrylic render over other types of render is that it can be used on more substrates. Traditional cement render can only be used on masonry surfaces, while acrylic render can be applied to concrete bricks, existing painted walls, concrete, polystyrene or other surfaces that traditional render simply cannot stick to.

Cement Render, is the application of a premixed surface of sand, cement and lime to brick, cement, stone or mud brick. It is the cheaper alternative to 'Texture Coating'. Cement Render is a very popular exterior finish in the residential market and a very popular choice with "Project Home" builders. It can be painted to whatever colour you like, it is very strong (being cement based) and is relatively affordable.

Texture Finishes

There are several different types of texture coatings on the market. Texture coating are a thicker and more flexible substitute to painting and comes in a wide range of colours, finishes and textures. All texture coatings can go over various different surfaces including traditional cement render, acrylic render, blue board, painted surfaces, and masonry.
